FAQ
Many customers have asked these questions in the past and the answers will clarify most queries you have.
Q: What is your test ride policy?
A: Want a test ride, no problem. However, unfortunately due to bikes having been stolen on test rides, we require security for the ride. (Full cash deposit or credit card charge) . Provided bike returns in original condition, a full refund will be issued no questions asked.
Q: What if I don't like my new bike?
A: We understand that occasionally your new bike may not feel right after the first ride. The first thing is to decide if adjustments can be made to ensure a better fit. This is normally a simple remedy and will be completed by us without question. If you still don't think the bike is right for you, no problem, we will exchange it for a different model. Please read our Returns Terms & Conditions for other details.
Q: I bought a bike at a department store/online, will you assemble it for me?
A: Not at this location, however the workshop at 16 Murray Street Marrickville will do this for you. Check out Bike Repairs for more details.
Q: I bought a bike elsewhere and have a flat tube will you fix it?
A: We understand people buy bikes from stores other than King Street Cyclery. These repairs will be done at King Street Cyclery, however, a labour charge appropriate to the task will be applied.
Q: Do you lend out tools?
A: No. Consumer bicycle tools are normally quite inexpensive and we are happy to advise on the appropriate tool to buy. All cyclist should have a basic repair kit.
Q: Can I inflate my tires in the store?
A: Yes. Free compressor air is available to all cyclists and a track pump is available if you require higher pressures.
Q: Are you female friendly?
A: We endeavor to have a female staff member in store on all days of trading
Q: My tyre goes down after a 2 weeks, do I have a puncture?
A: Tubes are just like balloons and deflate over time. Our definition of a puncture is that the tyre deflates in 24 hours. It is a good idea to check your tyres weekly and keep them at the required pressure. Your bicycle will handle better as well!
Q: I have only had my bike for a week and the gears don't feel good any more?
A: It is normal for a bike to "settle in" over a short time...just like a car or other mechanical machinery. The cables just normally need to be snugged up and this can easily be done in the first check and adjust service. During the first check we also check all parts for appropriate tightness, adjust bearings, brakes, etc.
Q: Do you do repairs at the weekend?
A: Weekends are normally very busy with people buying new bikes. No repairs are normally done apart from replacement tubes and tyres. If we do manage to do a repair we will normally send you a sms to confirm job is complete.
Q: Do you Hire bikes?
A: Unfortunately we do not have room in the store to have a hire fleet.
